Lucy has worked in the disability sector for more than 18 years. She managed a specialist employment service for people with psychiatric disability in Melbourne's northern suburbs for seven years. During this time, she collaborated with local mental health services and community agencies to develop strong and supportive employment pathways for jobseekers with psychiatric disability, with a particular focus on working with local indigenous community leaders and services. She also established a highly successful cleaning business for people with psychiatric disability and substantial barriers to open employment.
Lucy has a Bachelor of Arts in Disability Studies (Deakin University) and a Master of Social Science in Policy and Human Services from RMIT University, Melbourne. She writes on disability employment policy in the context of the current welfare reform agenda with articles published in a range of journals. She is regularly invited to speak on disability employment at local and international conferences.
Lucy has little spare time but finds some to volunteer at her local community radio station where she 'works the phones' for a film review program. She shares Pauline's passion for wine but from a consumer's, not producer's, perspective.
